Washington School in San Jose is located near the tile factory who donated tile for the mosaic murals. With the help of primary grade students, parents and teachers, 17 murals were completed within a year. The school became the starting point for many of the bicentennial activities in the city. With this commission and honorariums for lectures on creativity, the first year was survived.
