Like my grandmother, I too lost a kidney in my youth; like dad's uncle, my left leg became paralyzed; like dad, I too spent three years in a hospital and had to wear a prosthetic for another three years. The Transcontinental Railroad Depot was in Benicia. My paternal grandparents' train had to board the largest ferry boat in the world (at Benicia) to get to San Francisco. Otto, being a boxer, must have thought about the Benicia Boy, the first heavy weight champion, especially since the Pony Express had this news on their first run which also ended in Benicia. He must have also thought about the Crgett-Choynsky bout which had recently taken place on the bay near the train depot.
